Demonstrated knowledge of programming languages including HTML/CSS, JavaScript and others is strongly preferred. Strong cartographic design principles as they apply to interactive and animated digital formats, Practical experience in the visualization of interactive maps and data graphics, including those linked to databases.Play a role in conceiving, researching, designing, editing, and producing the National Geographic's retail and custom maps. Position entails all aspects of map production, proofing, and revision in a team-based mapping environment with production and editing as primary areas of specialization. Responsibilities: Develop concepts, research, design or art direct maps as needed for internal and external partners in print and digital formats. Provide direction to map production artists and vendors. (70%); Coordinate with map editors and database staff to insure proper editorial and data standards are being met in all products. (15%); Maintains filing system for group access of map data and archives project work in an orderly and timely manner following divisional archive guidelines.
